Regional Fast from Aug 3rd - 17th, 2009 Joel 2:15 –Joel 2:17 (KJV) Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
For years, many have been praying and fasting for the revival to come to St. Louis, and yet many have lost strength or some have tried to share glory with the Lord. We are seeking a regional gathering of saints with no agenda other than to see the name of Jesus magnified and glorified!
We are not interested in methods, books, or any
man-centered or man-driven attempt at revival. We are simply calling
all believers who have a deep groaning for the Lord and His Kingdom to
come, His will to be done, to join in a time of humility and deep
repentance before the Lord during a 2-week period of fasting and
praying: Aug 3rd -17th, 2009. If the Lord leads, this could be
extended. Daniel 9:3 –Daniel 9:5 (NKJV) Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.
And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, “O
Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with
those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have
sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even
by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.
What is the purpose of fasting?
Much confusion and opinion can undermine the effecacy of simply being
obedient to Jesus' call to "when you fast" (not "if"). However, the
Word makes it clear that we fast to humble ourselves, to mortify the
flesh, and to invite the Holy Spirit. Rather than fasting for a
specific event, conference, or desire, it is to see Him come in
fullness in our hearts, our homes, and over the St. Louis area. During
a fast, we seek to "fix our eyes on Jesus" and on His Kingdom coming
and His will being done. The very act of fasting is linked to
repentance. Not only can we repent of our own complacency, but we can
stand in the gap for those who have no strength to repent. Matthew 17:21 (NKJV) However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Spirits
of discouragement and slumber have had their way in this region far too
long, and Jesus makes it clear that some stongholds require the
addition of fasting. We encourage all of you to join us in this time of
repentance and in anticipation of a much needed raining (James
5:7-8,16-17) of the Holy Spirit as the Kingdom of God is established in
the heartland! Most are entering into a liquid-only fast,
but we invite you to join with any other type of fast you're being
called to: media, tv, entertainment, less meals, etc. After the time of
fasting, we will come together with one or two solemn assemblies
(details to come) with praise, prayer, and to hear what the Lord has
been speaking to us. Press in, stand fast, and believe that God is a reward of those who diligently seek Him! (Heb 11:6)
